How to Hand Over Admin Without Losing Control
Many small business owners delay outsourcing admin because they fear losing visibility. That concern is fair. Poorly set up support can mean more chasing, not less.
Done properly, outsourced admin support should feel hands off for you, while still leaving you in charge of decisions, priorities and access.
1. Start with a clear list of tasks
Write down the repetitive work that fills your week: inbox triage, diary, invoices, onboarding, data entry. Be specific. A clear list becomes the scope. Match items against our services to see what typically transfers well.
2. Decide what only you should do
Keep client strategy, pricing decisions and sensitive approvals with you. Hand over the process work around them. Control is about ownership of decisions, not ownership of every keystroke.
3. Agree access and boundaries

Limited access Grant only what the agreed tasks need.

Shared tools Prefer shared inboxes and calendar permissions where possible.

Data care Good providers work within limits and treat information carefully. See our Privacy Policy.
4. Set a simple reporting rhythm
A short weekly update or shared checklist is often enough. You should not need to chase status. If you do, the arrangement is not yet hands off.
5. Start small, then expand
Many clients begin with 10 to 20 hours a month, the kind of block on our pricing page, then add phone support or deeper process work once trust is built. Use the cost calculator if you want a rough sense of what your admin hours are worth before you scope a package.
What hands off should feel like
You agree the work. It gets done. Exceptions are flagged. You stay free to run the business. That is the standard we aim for when supporting UK SMEs and sole traders.
